eToro review
eToro is a multi-asset trading and investing platform built around social features, most notably CopyTrader, which lets a user automatically mirror another investor's trades in real time. Alongside copy trading, it offers real stocks and ETFs, crypto, and CFDs on forex, commodities and indices, wrapped in a social feed where users can see and discuss each other's positions. eToro completed its Nasdaq IPO in May 2025 under the ticker ETOR, and is regulated by the FCA in the UK, CySEC in Cyprus, ASIC in Australia, and registered with FinCEN and the SEC in the US.

Who eToro is for
For an individual investor, eToro's main appeal is being able to follow and copy other traders rather than build a strategy from scratch. It suits people who want a social, guided way into stocks and crypto more than active traders chasing the tightest spreads.
Pros
- Copy trading is a genuine, well-known differentiator and the most frequently cited reason people choose eToro.
- Simple, beginner-friendly app and web platform.
- One account covers stocks, crypto, ETFs and CFDs.
- Now a regulated, Nasdaq-listed public company, which adds a layer of financial transparency.
- Free demo account and a large library of educational content.
Cons
- Customer support is the most repeated complaint: slow responses and tickets closed without resolution.
- Some users report delays or unclear terms around withdrawals.
- Fee structure, including currency conversion charges, can be costly for frequent or non-USD traders.
- Occasional reports of app bugs and glitches during volatile markets.
- CFD trading carries a high loss rate for retail accounts, a risk eToro itself discloses.
eToro FAQ
Is eToro safe?
eToro is regulated by several established authorities, including the FCA in the UK, CySEC in Cyprus, and ASIC in Australia, and is now a Nasdaq-listed public company with public financial reporting. That covers broker and custody risk. Trading risk is separate: CFDs in particular carry a high loss rate for retail accounts, which is a standard disclosure across the industry, not something specific to eToro.
Can I buy real stocks on eToro, or is it all CFDs?
Both exist on the platform. A standard long position on a stock is a real share held on the client's behalf. Any short position, or one that uses leverage, is executed as a CFD instead. In the US, CFDs are not offered at all, so US users hold real shares, crypto and options rather than CFDs.
Does eToro charge withdrawal fees?
eToro has historically charged a flat fee on USD account withdrawals, with GBP and EUR local accounts exempt, and has been adjusting this toward tiered currency-conversion charges by account tier. Because this has changed more than once, it is worth checking eToro's current fee page directly rather than relying on an older figure.
What is CopyTrader?
CopyTrader is eToro's feature for automatically and proportionally mirroring another investor's trades with a user's own funds, in real time. It was eToro's international flagship feature for years before reaching US users for the first time in October 2025.
