How to hit #1 on Google in under 6 months: an SEO breakdown
· By Christian Görgen
This week, the REALTYon Expo Cyprus 2026 takes place at the City of Dreams Mediterranean. The event is organised by the Ultimate Fintech Group, the same people behind the iFX EXPO series. Real estate sits slightly outside the FinTech space, but there might be some interesting overlaps.
Registration is still open if you want to attend.
Is AI slop hitting real estate marketing in 2026?
There is a lot of real estate activity going on in Cyprus right now. Developers are building everywhere, and there is no shortage of high-gloss, ambitious projects.
One of the more visible projects is The Ring Larnaca. A friend of mine received a brochure the other day, and the presentation looked clean and professional. “They just need to get the building permit. It will be granted within two weeks,” she quoted a sales rep.
It got me thinking. A few years ago, glossy design and a professional look were at least a decent indicator. Today, with tools like ChatGPT, anyone can put together a high-end website or brochure within hours.
To be fair, even before AI, it was possible to present projects in a way that looked more advanced than they actually were. There have been multiple cases of ambitious developments that were heavily marketed but never fully completed, both here in Cyprus and across other Mediterranean countries.
What has changed is the speed and ease. The barrier to creating something that looks credible has dropped significantly, and presentation alone is no longer enough.
A proper assessment still means checking the people behind it, verifying the legal setup, and doing real due diligence. But as a quick first filter, I look at backlinks. Anyone can build a polished website in an afternoon, but credibility takes time, and it shows up across the web as references, media mentions, and inbound links.
No backlinks, no citations, no credibility.
Ranking analysis: fast visibility, high-intent traffic
So I looked into the project and found something interesting.
The domain was registered on Monday, 1 July 2024, and the first organic traffic started picking up in August 2024. So far, nothing unusual.
Today, most of the traffic appears to be coming from Israel. That is interesting but also not surprising. Cyprus real estate has traditionally been attractive to Israeli buyers, so the targeting makes sense.
What is more surprising is how they are ranking. They are already appearing at the top of Google for high-intent commercial keywords like “buy apartment in Cyprus”. That is not just informational traffic. Those are users actively looking to invest.
| Keyword (Hebrew) |
English |
Position |
Traffic / mo |
| קניית דירה בקפריסין | Buy apartment in Cyprus | #1 | 28 |
| דירה להשקעה בקפריסין | Apartment for investment in Cyprus | #2–3 | 27 |
| דירות להשקעה בקפריסין | Apartments for investment in Cyprus | #5–6 | 15 |
| רכישת דירה בקפריסין | Purchasing apartment in Cyprus | #3 | 11 |
| קניית נכס בקפריסין | Buy property in Cyprus | #3 | 11 |
Ahrefs data from April 2026.
In total, all keywords add up to roughly ~100 organic clicks per month. At first glance, that doesn’t sound like much. But these are commercial, high-intent queries from a relatively small but wealthy market.
If you assume a conversion rate of 5–10% (e.g. users requesting a call or submitting their details), that translates into roughly 5–10 leads per month. With property values ranging between €250,000 and €1,000,000, and a typical sales commission of around 5%, even a small number of conversions can translate into meaningful revenue.
From a marketing standpoint, that is highly efficient: a relatively new domain generating qualified inbound leads through organic search within a very short period and with low effort.
Real estate SEO strategy breakdown: step by step
1
Build the on-page SEO foundation
The site appears to have a clean SEO setup, with focused landing pages, clear targeting, and dedicated Hebrew content for the Israeli market (about 30 pages in Hebrew in total). Their SEO score sits at 100 on PageSpeed Insights, though overall site performance could be improved further by reducing image sizes.
2
Launch PR through strong media sites
Their best backlink is from Calcalist (DR 82, Israel’s biggest business daily) through a featured article. Other than that, they have a handful of other high-quality links from Israeli and Greek news outlets. On top of that, the project shows up on related real estate sites and developer portfolios, often as a case study or featured project from the developer.
3
Push authority with additional links
This is where things get interesting.
In the backlink profile, there are signs that some do-follow links were injected into existing (often older) blog articles and then removed again after a short period of time. These were not new posts, but edits to already indexed pages, content that had been live for years.

From an SEO perspective, this can create a temporary authority boost. Older articles often already carry trust and link equity. Even if the link is later removed, there may still be a short-term impact on rankings.
Some people would call this a blackhat SEO strategy, especially as the placements are a bit random and not topically relevant. Whether intentional or done by an outsourced agency without the developer’s direct knowledge, the results are the same.
How to improve your real estate SEO through backlinks
If you want to grow real estate SEO and build genuine authority through strategic link building, there are two main paths.
You can do it yourself. Create helpful, SEO-friendly content, focus on high-intent keywords, and build backlinks through outreach or platforms like Bazoom. If you understand SEO fundamentals, this can be a solid starting point.
